In April 2016 Cumbrian artist Derek Eland became the first ever artist in residence at Everest Base Camp, living in a temporary community with 1000 people as they prepared to climb to the summit.
“Being Human at Base Camp” is the first chance to experience Derek’s unique journey which was extraordinary, moving and surreal. Derek Eland shares his thought provoking experience of his 6 week residency and reveals what it was like to be ‘human’ in the harsh environment of Base Camp.
Exhibition now open Rheged Centre until 2 JULY 2017
