Rohan coming soon to St Helier

Posted 8th March 2010 in Rohan Shops

New Rohan store in St Helier , Jersey, coming soon Rohan will be opening a new store in St Helier .

Our shop will be a concession within one of Jersey’s great institutions – the famous Voisins Department Store.
The exact opening date is yet to finalised but we are expecting to ‘open the doors’ in early April.

We’ll be occupying 800 square foot which, for those of you without a quantity surveying background, is plenty of space to display a comprehensive range of Rohan clothing – for both men and women.

You probably already know all about our clothing. And you may well appreciate the understated appearance, which disguises a host of technical, performance advantages.
However, you may not be quite as familiar with the Rohan store experience. You really can’t beat a visit to a Rohan shop – the possibility to discuss your plans with our team of like-minded advisors, the chance to try on our clothes in relaxed surroundings, and the opportunity to get just the right thing, first time – without the need to trouble the postal services. And, of course, the chance to just pop in for a chat – we’ve always got time for that!

We very much look forward to welcoming you to our new store in Voisins of St Helier in early April.

rohan bags & shorts Rohan OriginalWe have mentioned in a previous post on Rohantime that the  Rohan Guildford team have been very busy building their own Rohan Originals collection. They have just told us that the collection has grown in the last couple of weeks. So much so that they are asking for help in identifying some of the Rohan Original garments that their customers have kindly donated to their collection.

Can anybody put a name to any of the jackets in the photo on the left? If you can please drop Phil & the Guildford team a line in the comments below.

rohan originals

We have charted the growth of the Rohan Originals Collection housed in Rohan Keswick in a number of posts on Rohantime. The collection is now a comprehensive display of vintage Rohan garments. Each one tells a unique story of Rohan’s heritage. The walls of Rohan Keswick are now adorned with 15 Rohan Originals. For those of us that Keswick is a step too far, please enjoy the Rohan Originals show on Flickr.

keswickA big thank you to Ben Evans and the Keswick team for putting together this great collection. We understand Ben is still keen to track down some missing garments. So next time you pull out that vintage Rohan, please drop us a line, and we can tell you if it’s on the missing list. I do happen to know the Mille Miglia Rohan Children’s Range released in 1985 is very prized for the collection.

A Real Guarantee

A real guarantee

herbie

A story for you – bear with me, it has a good ending.

About 15 or more years ago our friend Phil got me drunk at lunchtime in a pub in Bristol and we staggered out in the rain and somehow found ourselves in a Rohan clothing shop where I was persuaded to hand over what seemed a huge sum of money for a waterproof coat.

I wore that coat on at least a thousand occasions over many years until the Gore-tex membrane ceased to work (as they eventually do). I still have the coat and apart from the waterproofing it is still in very good nick. In subsequent years I also bought from Rohan a fleece, now ten years old and going strong and some wonderful “winter bags” trousers which have comfy thermal linings. All good stuff for boating.

So when I needed a new waterproof coat at the end of 2006 I got another from Rohan. It cost £149, weighs nothing, but is windproof and waterproof, has lots of waterproof pockets and all that. Kath bought herself a different Rohan waterproof a couple of weeks later in the sale (£87).

Sale time 2010 came around and we went to Rohan in Guildford to buy a fleece for Kath and a new one for me, as the old one whilst still sound is now a bit grubby. Whilst we were there we mentioned in passing our only complaint about our waterproofs which is that in the awful weather we some times boat in, the rain gets up the sleeves and you get wet forearms.

Ah well said the shop lady, then under our guarantee the coats have not performed to spec and we will give you the full price you paid in part exchange for new coats. This after three years hard wear. She rang this morning confirming from their computer records the dates and prices we paid, and so were off to get new coats for which we’ll have to pay very little.

I don’t know about you, but I reckon that’s a very good deal. And we didn’t even ask for it! So I’m happy to offer this testimonial. Rohan stuff is not cheap, the designs are often quirky but clever but the quality is worth the money and it seems their guarantee actually means what it says.

Rohan Guildford

guildford originalsHere at Rohan Guildford we pride ourselves on connecting with our customers, whether this be because we’ve been to the same place they’re going, reminiscing about old products, or recommending the best coffee shop in town!

Opening in 2005 means we are relatively new on the Rohan circuit. However, we are lucky to already have a loyal customer base, most of who have been with the company since the very beginning.

The collection currently includes: 3 pairs of original Bags, the first Striders, an Olfio, a Goa Top, a Khombo Top, a Graphic T and a Safari Shirt in Turquoise brought from Paul himself in a Bristol hotel sale! A massive thank you to Mr. Power, Mr. Ward, Mr. Plutheral and Mr. Bradbeer for their donations.

So if you have any classic Rohan hanging around in the back of the wardrobe, and you’re not planning a trip to the Lakes anytime soon, why not come in and give it a good home in Guildford, I’m sure we can sort our some kind of part exchange! Why not come to Guildford anyway, it’s a lovely town, and we’ve got the nicest staff.

Bags of Colour at Rohan Keswick

Ben Evans and the Rohan Keswick team have been very busy in the last few days. The Rohan Originals collection, of early Rohan classic garments, has just been got bigger with the addition of some really of the wall Rohan Bags colours. The new colours of the Bags pink, emerald and yellow were loaned by Peter Clinch, who is a regular user of Rohantime. Thank you Peter.

So what colours are we missing?

rohan bags red blue rohan bags blues grey rohan bags pinks yellows

If you have any of the more unusual colours tucked away in the back of the wardrobe, please let us know. If you have a black pair of Bags, we are really interested. Not many left. I understand the word is out for a lovat and spice pair. You remember spice maybe if I said rust!                                                                                                                                                                   The red carpet would go out for a Mark 1 pair of Rohan Bags.
