Rohan Franchise exceeds all expectation
Posted 15th February 2010 in Rohan News & Events
The good news is that a lot of us are interested in having our own Rohan shop.
Since the release in January of the upcoming Rohan Franchise opportunity we can report that we have received a a deluge of enquiries for more information on the franchise opportunity.
Retail Director Ian Palmer reflects on the high level of interest already received: “When we introduced our franchise proposition we felt confident that we’d constructed an attractive package and were prepared for plenty of phone calls. But, if I’m honest, the sheer number of serious enquiries we’ve received has exceeded all our expectations. It’s been really encouraging.
“What’s surprised me about many of the enquiries is the amazing enthusiasm for the Rohan brand. That and the professionalism and experience that many prospective franchise owners can bring to the table. We hadn’t really banked on that. So far, we’ve just been concentrating on making our package as attractive as we possibly could!”
A big thank you to all. Further franchise details

Rohan – Porters Progress
Posted 10th February 2010 in Rohan News & Events

We have talked about reusing our Rohan garments in a number of posts on Rohantime. Many of us have shared stories of Rohan garments being passed down within families.
Rohan’s own samples are all also reused. As the new Spring/Summer season approaches you can be assured we are still passing our garments onto a selection of development and support projects, where people can benefit from the special properties of our clothing.
We donate worn but serviceable press samples to the Porters Progress and the International Porter Protection Group, who in turn pass the garments on to poorly equipped mountain porters
We recently donated over a hundred Rohan garments to the charity.
This was supported by Tim Jaspers’ recent trip to Nepal; where he was lucky enough to hand deliver some more garments to the hard working porters in Kathmandu.
Tim Jasper, Rohan Brand Director says;
“When I was in Nepal last month I was moved by the stories of hardship and exploitation that some of the porters have suffered. Most porters are not hardy, acclimatised, mountain folk, but lowland farmers looking for seasonal work. Although reputable trekking companies are supposed to ensure their porters are well-equipped and looked after, in practice many porters are at the mercy of their local gang-leaders. Needless to say some of them are still going into harsh mountain environments without the gear they need. So were delighted to be supporting the great work of this charity. It was fantastic to be able to personally deliver some of these garments and understand first hand how this small donation of clothing will help the porters to be better equipped for their daily jobs”.

Dear All. Quite a year really. It was fantastic to have been able to run the Rohantime Events in The Lakes and Dunster and to meet so many Rohan people. You all had a great time if the feedback is anything to go by.
It was also an amazing experience to have run our first Rohan Trek with you, when 12 of us went to Iceland in August. For anyone who loves the outdoors, is not averse to the risk of crazy weather, then I say – go to Iceland, it’s a magical place!
From the business side of things, we all seem to be weathering the recession in reasonably good order. We have done a lot of work this year on positioning Rohan to grow in the coming years. There are a lot of
plans afoot. On the design side we have had a great year designing the 2010 ranges and – as I always tend to be – I’m very excited about the new things that are on the way. The emphasis of everything we’re doing now is properly-conceived, highly reliable, useful gear that will help you to enjoy whatever adventures you are planning for 2010.
Many thanks for all your support over the last year, best wishes for the season and here’s to a healthy, happy and exciting 2010.
Tim Jasper, Brand Director, Rohan.
Happy Biker
Posted 11th December 2009 in Rohan News & Events
From time to Rohantime we thought it would be great to share some stories by the Rohan staff of their favourite Rohan gear. The first story and the original idea came from Rohan Keswick. Next we have John Rigby Operations Manager Milton Keynes
John what do you use?
Rohan Buffs (all colours)
Rohan Socks cool and cold (navy 9-12)
When I joined Rohan in October 2008 the Company and the clothes seemed to be a great concept with great products but just a little too small for the fuller figure gent, I’m build around the adage “Great size for playing rugby but not fitting main stream clothing sizes”. So there wasn’t a great deal of choice for someone of my size, but what there was is great.
Those of you who went down to the Dunster camping weekend with Rohan will probably remember me with my son Isaac doing the car parking , air bed duties oh and looking after the bar overnight (what a great weekend, we both had).
So what do I use the buff and socks for? Well, as a born again biker (mind is willing but the body weaker) I now ride full time in all weathers come rain or shine covering over fourteen thousand miles last year with only three days not being able to use the bike due to the snow.
I find the Rohan Buffs really usefully for keeping the cold out around the neck area pulling the buff up to my nose and over my ears giving me a really snug fit, so when I have to use my flip front helmet, I have a nice cover protecting my chin and mouth with no problem with the buffs getting wet from my breath. There are a couple of problems though,
One is which one to use some great colour’s and pattern’s and the other is getting them back off Helen my wife when she’s borrowed one to use while watching our sons play for Olney rugby club.
Now on to the Rohan Socks what a great product, talk about keeping your feet warm and dry really comfortable, comfort fit at the top and non smelly, well worth the asking price. In fact, I would pay double the costs once you have cold feet on a bike you just have to stop and try and get warm again. I’m really looking forward to trying out the longer length sock’s, I know that they are meant to be used with the Superstrider breeches but when the real cold weather comes, I know who’s going to be a happy biker.
Regards John
