Rohan Keswick – Staff Picks Autumn Winter 2017

The leaves are changing colour here in the Lake District signalling the change of season again.

Our Autumn/Winter 2017 catalogue has been published for a few weeks now and here at Rohan Keswick we have had time to get to grips with our new range.

We always like to highlight a few of our favourites for everyone and we always seem to get some nice feedback so we thought we would continue to inform and hopefully entertain. All of the staff here use Rohan gear outside of work be it for walking, running, travelling, going out or just as casual wear. Even our newest member of staff has already caught the bug and bought his first pair of Troggings – a perennial favourite with staff and customers alike.

We have all tried to pick something slightly different to our usual so that we can try and highlight some of the gear we do not talk about every day. Some of these garments are on our wish lists and some of them are already in our wardrobes.

Josh Rohan Keswick in Rohan Outland Jacket Autumn Winter 2017Josh:

Staff Pick: Outland Jacket

Josh likes – The Insuloft filling keeps you very warm and when paired with a Barricade™ waterproof membrane it makes for the perfect keep warm and dry jacket. All of this wrapped up in a smart Parka style coat.

Any special quirks?

The Tricot fleece around the neck line. The hidden map pocket under the storm flap and the 2 internal zipped security pockets.

I would wear it – On a typical Saturday watching the rugby (or football) and also on a skiing (or snowboarding Josh) holiday when out at night between restaurants and bars.

I would wear it with – on a cold and wet day I would couple it with a pair of our waterproof Dry Requisite or Dry Frontier trousers. On a less wet day a pair of our mid weight trousers with DWR would work really well – either a pair of Ranger trousers or a pair of Troggings.

Price £225 – Comes in Port Red and Coal.

Holly-Ann Rohan Keswick in Rohan Ayla Trousers Autumn Winter 2017Holly-Ann:

Staff Pick: Ayla Trousers

Holly-Ann likes – they have a soft stretchy waist band for an bit of extra give after dessert. The Elastane content makes them stretchy and very comfortable for all kinds of occasions. Quick drying, light and smart making them the perfect travel trouser.

Any special quirks?

Very quirky, attractive pattern makes them a lovely smart travel trouser. The elastic waistband makes them really comfortable.

I would wear it – To a Restaurant or on a night out. To travel in during cooler weather (they are mid weight trousers). They would work equally well as a pair of smart work trousers though.

I would wear it with – our equally stunning Ottoman Crew to make a perfect simple smart casual outfit or with a Leeway shirt for a smart business look.

Price £75 – Comes in Black

Leeanne Rohan Keswick in Ladies Spark Fleece Jacket Autumn Winter 2017Leeanne:

Staff pick: Ladies Spark fleece Jacket

Leeanne likes – It has a hood for those colder days and a front and back Insuloft panel to retain extra body heat. It can be worn as a smart outer layer or underneath a waterproof or other jacket as a great thermal layer. It is fleece AND Insuloft without the bulk.

Any special quirks?

It is so different to a standard winter fleece. It is a cross – a hybrid of a technical fleece and an insulated hooded jacket all in one.

I would wear it – for walking throughout the Autumn and Winter and into the spring. It also works well as a casual piece just to keep warm whilst being smart down the pub or simply on a cosy night in.

I would wear it with – Jeans or our fabulous new Venture Jeans to look smart yet casual. On a cosy night in I would team it with Troggings or Hometown trousers for warmth and super comfort.

Price £99 comes in Ivory marl.

Rikki Rohan Keswick in Rohan Fusion Jacket Autumn Winter 2017Rikki:

Staff pick: Fusion Jacket

Rikki likes – it is a very versatile jacket. Looks good but is still technical like a lot of our gear making it perfect for travel or leisure. Machine washable, lightweight and will pack really easily as it is crease resistant. Brilliant for a trip to a temperate Autumnal destination.

Any special quirks?

Microfleece lining for warmth, wind resistance, hand warmer pockets as well as the secure pockets and a Durable Water Repellency finish if you get caught in a shower.

I would wear it – On a night out as you have 4 secure pockets (good for keeping my mobile phone safe). Simply as a nice winter layer on a cold day to look casually smart.

I would wear it with – Any of our ever increasing Jeans range, with Ranger trousers for an all over DWR protection or with our new comfortable and stretchy Hometown Trousers.

Price £99 – comes in Black Cherry and French Blue.

Neil Rohan Keswick in Rohan Upland Trekkers Autumn Winter 2017Neil:

Staff Pick: Upland Trekkers

Neil likes – these are my ‘go to’ walking trousers. A tough Polyamide canvas fabric combined with stretch panels on the seat and knee areas to afford great freedom of movement. They have great pockets (the leg pockets are OS Map compatible), they are quick drying and are just very comfortable for day long wearing.

Any special quirks?

I love the contrast panels on this seasons trousers. The proper map sized pockets are a simple but really useful addition. They have lots of secure pockets as you would expect for a pair of Rohan trousers.

I would wear it – Everywhere, but especially Fell Walking. They were definitely in my bag on my trip to Spain for a spot of Birdwatching and will be again when I head for Northumbria next month.

I would wear it with – too many things to list but in particular, a core Silver Long Sleeve Zip or an Expedition shirt. A Microgrid Zip top or Jacket as a technical top layer.

Price £79 – comes in Oak Bark and Coal

Katie Rohan Keswick in Rohan Merino Union Hooded Top Autumn Winter 2017Katie:

Staff Pick: Merino Union Hooded Top

Katie likes – A lovely soft feel and warmth against my skin. The natural temperature regulating properties of Merino mean you never feel overheated. It does not crease so will always look smart even after you have had it shoved in your bag. The addition of Polyester means that it is still a very functional hard wearing piece that is easy to wash and look after.

Any special quirks?

For me it is just a quirky piece yet is practical and functional. The light hood and loose cosy neck detail work really well for me.

I would wear it – It’s good simple everyday wear and works well with lots of our smart casual gear. I would also wear it out on walks due to the great technical properties of Merino.

I would wear it with – the new French Blue quayside zip as the colours complement each other brilliantly. As a base layer under lots of things when out walking.

Price £75 – comes in Iris Marl.

Christeen Rohan Keswick in Rohan Vertex Jacket Autumn Winter 201Christeen:

Staff pick: Vertex Jacket

Christeen likes – It is our superb, technical 3 layer jacket. It might be technical but it still looks smart enough to wear beyond the fells. The styling means that it will look just as good on any city street as it does on Great Gable. Great secure pockets, a really adjustable hood and a lovely colour for the Autumn.

Any Special quirks?

The clean lines make it very smart. It has great adaptability for almost any occasion and any location – Cockermouth or Kathmandu!

I would you wear it – See above! In town on a night out just as much as on any of our 214 Wainwright summits and the valleys in between.  Durable enough to wear through the winter with the correct layers.

I would wear it with – Dry Roamers for a complete waterproof layer. Roamers for everyday walking. A pair of jeans in the city. Layer it with our many fleece and base layers depending on the weather.

Price £265 – Comes in Prussian Blue

Scott Rohan Keswick in Rohan Ranger Trousers Autumn Winter 2017And me – Scott

Staff Pick: Ranger Trousers

I Like – The latest in a long line of tough, do anything Polyamide trousers. A tough canvas but still smart enough for many occasions and technical enough for the fells. 3 Secure pockets and a water repellent coating.

Any special quirks?

We have added stretch for even more comfort and movement as well as some elastication in the waist band for a bit of growth and to help fit different shapes. The addition of a Durable Water Repellency coating has made these trousers even more versatile.

I would wear it – Going out in town in cooler weather, when travelling and on low level fell walks and wanderings.

I wear them with – A crosscheck shirt for warmth or a Worldview when I want to smarten up.

Price £75 – comes in Black and Caribou.

We could go on all day. I could talk about my favourite IcePack Vests, Rikki could talk about his Hometown Trousers or his Escapers. Holly-Ann is wearing an Ottoman crew that she likes almost as much as her Ayla Trousers. Katie is wearing a pair of our ever brilliant Jeans.

Pop in and see us or your local shop. We are all very enthusiastic about our range and what it can do. We have all sorts of clothing for all sorts of occasions – For Every Journey

See you soon
