Rohan Bakewell opened in May 2005. The shop dates back to the 18th century, is constructed from Derbyshire gritstone, has some original stone flooring and two cooking ranges in the shop area.

Whether coming to Bakewell by car or on public
transport on arrival make your way to Rutland Square in the centre of town. Here you will find the Rutland Arms Hotel to the left of which is King Street. Our store is approx. 50yds up this street on the left hand side.
Parking – There are two central car parks offering between 1 and 4 hours parking. All day parking can be found at the Agricultural Centre where weekly markets are held.

Staff Recommendations – Coffee, lunch and ice cream are available at “Nice” opposite the store in an 18th century complex of shops with a central courtyard.There is an abundance of coffee shops,bistros and pubs in the town centre as well as restaurants offering English, Italian and Indian food.

Local Knowledge - Chatsworth, Haddon and Tissington are all houses of great historic interest in close proximity to Bakewell.

For walkers and cyclists we have the Monsal Trail, Tissington Trail and the High Peak Trail. These were formerly railway lines and they travel through exceptionally beautiful country side.

The Peak District has a great variety of walking experiences including walking through valleys with rivers eg. Dovedale, over moorland and through woodland.
The area around is abundant with wildlife and a great place for birdwatching and fishing.

Valerie and David travelled the globe for many years, wearing Rohan, for more info on tales of their adventures and encounters and maybe buy one of their books see Was a pleasure to meet them, and sort Valerie with a new pair of Bags.

    We’re also very pleased to welcome Diane back to work in the Bakewell store this week following some time off after breaking her knee.

  5. Easter is here and so are we. Rohan Bakewell is open all weekend. 9.30 till 5pm Good Friday and Saturday. 11am till 4.30pm Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. If the Easter Bunny forgets to bring you an egg or if in fact chocolate is not your bag, pop in and see what treats we have in store!

    Recent arrivals are full of Spring cheer,and include Sea Coral polos for women and some swanky new colours in the Element T for the men.

  6. End of the month means it’s The Farmers Market here in Bakewell tomorrow. Lots of yummy treats, well worth a visit. (Personal recommendations are the bread from Loaf, and the pizza, and the cheese stall, and the mushrooms, and the water buffalo… actually it’s all good!)

    Once you’ve stocked up on scoff. Pop round to King Street and say hello to us. For all you dapper gents out there the Maroc Jacket and Trousers are now in stock. And for the women new colours in the Essence T and a stand out from the crowd Stria in Sea Coral.

  7. This mornings flurry of snow has melted, it’s all blue sky and sunshine here in The Peaks. Spring is in the air!? Perfect timing, as some new short sleeve Aura shirts for men have landed in store today, along with some Tangier Capris for women.
