The Rohan store in Hale opened it’s doors in 1986 and was the third store for Rohan to open after both Long Preston and Milton Keynes.
Directions to store – A two minute walk from Hale Train Station. A ten minute walk from Altrincham Metrolink. The shop is situated on Ashley Road, the main street that runs through Hale village. We are opposite Costa Coffee. There is a public car-park situated opposite our store which is behind Costa Coffee and the Co-Op supermarket.

Don’t say I don’t try my best for you
Well… one couldnt exactly say it’s warm and cosy out there. For those of you who spent hours this morning rigorously trying to defrost your car, then realised that you had no de-icer and the marble-like sheaths of ice shrouding your windscreen were pretty much there to stay for the rest of the day, if not the rest of the week, don’t worry- you were not alone. Isn’t winter just wonderful.

We’ve been very very busy with sale so we haven’t been blogging as much as usual lately- but have no fear! Lily is here, and I am determined to keep up the blogging- you can’t escape our endless posts that easily!
To give you all a bit of a break from my ceaseless rants about our products and suggestions about what you might want to buy, I will keep it brief today and say only two things: END OF SALE TOMORROW and NEW SS12 STOCK IN!!! To make that a little clearer, the Winter Sale officially ends tomorrow (i.e. the 22nd January 2012), so if you want a last chance to grab yourself some of the items that have recently been reduced to even lower prices, I would come in today before you miss your chance!
Happily, if you’re bored stiff with updates about our sale, you will be glad to know that we are FINALLY getting some new stock in, and when I say new stock I do not just mean replenishment of old garments, I mean never-seen-before-except-by-VIP-Rohan-workers NEW GARMENTS (I can almost hear the simultaneous creaks of your jaws dropping). So, instead of sitting there hyperventilating with excitement at the prospect of these brand-spanking-new products, why not drop in and see these beauties for yourself? To add to the mystery I won’t even tell you what they’re called (that was a hint to come in and find out for yourselves)…
Well it seems a lot of you have taken heed of my last post and come in to grab yourself some of the further-reduced bargains over the last week- a pat on the back for all of you who have; you are all as wise as Yoda. Partly because our stock is running at a lower rate than ever before, and partly because the sale is over in just about two weeks!!! You are MAD if you don’t manage to get yourself down here at some point before everything goes back to full price; some items are even being returned to H/O never to be seen again (I know, SHOCK HORROR), and then you really would regret not grabbing those much-desired trousers and tees while you had the chance…
So, if you want to nab a £35 pair of windproof, water-repellent, breathable trousers (cmon we’re even cheaper than Topshop now!), for example the Womens Roamers, or even a £25 soft, breathable and durable tee, such as the Mens T Plus, it would be advisable to come in sometime over the next fortnight to save you weeks (probably years, in fact) of regret…
It’s been a while since we’ve blogged so we hope you’ve had a fabulously fun Christmas and New Year in our absence, although we understand it must have been hard without our regular blogs to keep you happy and fulfilled
The Christmas sale was crazy and we’d like to thank all of you for coming in to see us during the sale period! We hope you all managed to get what you wanted, even with the lack of stock since it was just flying off the rails. If you have not yet visited our sale- have no fear! The sale has not finished yet and will not be over until the end of January, so you have three weeks yet to come in and grab yourself some last-minute bargains before it’s too late!

After Rob’s rant on base layers yesterday, I’m going to move onto mid-layers today and make sure that you are well-informed about your ‘inbetween’ garments in preparation for the consistently inconsistent weather we seem to be experiencing at the moment.
It now looks like we won’t be having the much-loved (or hated) white christmas; a wet christmas appears to be more likely. This is a little unnerving given the seemingly freezing temperatures we had at the beginning of the week, foreshadowing snow snow snow over the Christmas period. So, for all of you out there who have stocked up with woolly and warm garments ready for the snow, you may now want to invest in some slightly lighter, though still warm clothes to see you through this more temperate period.
Perfect for the current weather conditions, the Affinity Jacket, Gradient Fleece, or even the Microgrid Fleece would protect you from the chill without making you too hot and flustered, especially if you’re out on a christmassy walk. The Affinity Jacket or Gradient Fleece, with their windproof and water-repellent outer materials, and inner fleecey and breathable linings, the Gradient also reversible, would be ideal for this wet and windy weather layered over the Merino Zip with a pair of stretchy, breathable trousers, for example the Striders. Alternatively, the much loved Microgrids would also be suitable for the current temperatures, incredibly warm yet fabulously light, throw one of these badboys on for a quick stroll down to the shop and you’ll be as toasty as a steaming christmas pudding.

For those of you at the Christmas Carol Service beside the Millenium Clock in Hale on Sunday evening, you’ll all know how important it was to be nicely layered up when out at this time of year. It wasn’t enough to simply plop a big coat on over your glad rags and hope for the best. We all saw those people shivering in the damp cold that we had and we did our best not to feel to smug about how snug we felt in our Rohan togs.
It’s not always so extreme that we need to be wearing our Superfine Merino Leggings under our trousers (although they’re an excellent idea for when you’re stood still in the cold for a couple of hours or more), but some simple, sensible layering never goes amiss at this time of year.

The festive mood is really starting to kick in, here in Hale. How can I tell? In Britain, we are lucky enough to have a wide range of weather types on our little island. All the same, we tend to get frustrated when we get nearly all those different weathers on the same day. We’ve all been lucky enough to have a bit of a turn around with the weather this week. Sunny blue skies, days so warm that we’re wearing shorts and T-shirts again, people rummaging in their drawers to dig out their relegated sunglasses… is this the summer that we missed out on last month?

Without a doubt, my favourites are the button up Pathways, and I’m hardly the only one with my eye on them. They’re exactly what I’d be happy wearing down to the pub, or going out and about in this blustery weather we’ve been having, confident in being warm yet still looking good.

The Gradient Jacket is back, and better than ever! This wonderful fleece isn’t just a warm mid-layer – it’s also a great outer-layer for this time of year, due to it being virtually windproof, zips neatly into our Hilltop and Mountain Guide Waterproofs, and is even reversible, allowing you to choose the level of warmth that you want in this changeable weather.
For all that it sounds like an ultra-technical soft shell (which it is, of course), it certainly doesn’t look like it. With the new dual-colour ranges available, with different options for the men and the women, the Gradient Fleece looks fantastic. The soft pillar interior also means that it feels fantastic too.

We have the new pathway cardis and fleeces in for both men and women in a range of new styles and colours. In particular, the new ladies pathway cardi has been reintroduced this year with bigger zipped side pockets that are perfect for storing purses, phones, make-up and all your other essentials- you’ll never need a bag again!
The cardi is also available in three new exciting shades of cream, grey and purple; I ordered the Oatmeal Marl for myself because the colour is so great, and if you come into the store perhaps you will see me modelling it!
Well, it’s a sweltering day here in Hale, which is a very welcome change from some of the really miserable weather that we’ve been having recently.
Nevertheless, we all know that rain is just around the corner, and it’s always smart to be prepared (as the Scouts always say). Being prepared, though, doesn’t have to mean that you’re weighed down with bulky waterproofs or perpetually carrying an unwieldy umbrella – Rohan have been championing lightweight clothing for decades.
I’ve already told you all about the microgrid fleeces and their packpockets, but one of the greatest bits of kit that we’ve got in at the moment is the Elite Jacket. With the weather finally improving, there’s now time to squeeze a camping trip or two before summer really is over. To coincide with that, we’ve just got in a whole new packing system, called Pack Cell. They’re ultra-light, waterproof and pack away into themselves, as well as offering a wide range of sizes for you to use.
Speaking as someone who normally has a great deal of trouble halfway through any camping trip rummaging in my rucksack, trying to find clean clothes in amongst all the wet and muddy ones, these are an absolute boon.

Just thought I would give a shout out about the Grand Tour Chinos. They’re cool, lightweight classically styled chinos with those invisible extras that Rohan is renowned for. I know they get talked about all the time, but I really love the hidden pocket and the UPF protection is always great for me.
It may seem like summer is coming to an end far too early, but I’m buying these anyway: they’re going to be great for my next trip to Hong Kong! In the mean time, they’re classy enough to wear in the evening, even if I’ve had a busy day at work.

They said the weather would turn by the time the Wedding hit but we are still sunny and warm.
