The HandleBards – Shakespeare is coming to the National Cycle Network.

Shakespeare is coming to the National Cycle Network with a group of travelling bards called The HandleBards.

The HandleBards are four-strong troupes of cycling actors who carry with them all of the necessary set, props and costume to perform extremely energetic, charmingly chaotic and environmentally sustainable Shakespeare plays across the globe.

They are known for their on-going drive to promote sustainability within the arts, will cycle 2500 miles between them, taking different routes from London to Edinburgh Touring Britain across the Sustrans National Cycle Network as part of the ‘4 for 400’ season including four plays each performed by four actors in over 70 venues. They girls start on  the 5th of July until the 10th of September, and the boys from the 25th of May until the 3rd of September. The girls will perform Romeo and Juliet on the Fallowfield Loop, in Levenshulme, Manchester on 30th July.

The HandleBards, who are known for their on-going drive to promote sustainability within the arts, will cycle 2500 miles between them, taking different routes from London to Edinburgh.

The team all ride Ashley Pathfinders, made in Shakespeare’s birthplace Stratford upon Avon.

    Perhaps next year they should try performing the Ring Cycle. It’s only 15 hours long.
