Update from Keith and Jayne

Jayne and I just got back from our trip at the weekend. We got to Everest Base Camp at 15.15 on 5 May, to see the clouds disappear and the sun come out. On 6th May at 07.30 I got to the top of Kala Pattar at 5545m for spectacular views of Everest and the Himalayan panorama. I have attached a couple of photos. You will see that Rohan clothing was very much in evidence – my jacket, freight vest, shirt and bags, and Jayne’s trousers and gilet.

Trip of a lifetime – Everest Base Camp

Rohan Perth customer Keith Ross is preparing for a trip of a lifetime. His wife, Jayne surprised him with a wonderful present for his 60th birthday.

Keith and Jayne are off to Nepal in April 2016 for a trek to Everest base camp. At the same time they are raising money for Community Action Nepal.

Community Action Nepal (CAN) is a UK based charity whose aim is to help the mountain people of Nepal. Founded by Doug Scott CBE, who in 1975 made the first British ascent of Everest, CAN is supported by mountaineers and mountain-lovers from across the globe

“We set a target to reach £1000 and as of today have raised £1300. We have set a revised target of £1500. We are both doing training walks in Scotland every week just now”  – Keith

Keith has been discussing his kit selection with the Rohan Perth team.

So far he has decided to pack:

Hilltop Jacket, Rohan Bags , Shorts, Freight Vest and Ecco expedition walking shoes. Read more

Much as I’m a Bags fan, I’d sooner walk in something stretchy (though I’d probably be in Bags for the travel out there). I imagine it’s eggsucking-for-grannies 101 to say that good base layers (socks included) make the biggest overall difference to comfort, but it never hurts to repeat it.

Good points, thanks. I have good base layers, but will look at trousers with a bit more stretch
