Staff Recommendations – Directly opposite, in our stores old location, there is now a delicatessen called Pumpkin that has become a firm favourite with us. It offers anything from a smoothie to freshly baked bread. It has also featured in Lonely Planet as the editor’s choice.

Next door to us, Treeby and Bolton gallery, which also has a coffee shop/cafe, has been accepted into the top 100 coffee shops in the UK. We seem to be spoiled for choice!

Real ale lovers should go to the Dog and Gun, also situated on Lake Road and for good quality pub grub, the George Hotel, on St John’s St takes some beating!

Local Knowledge – Keswick is widely considered to the Outdoor Pursuits capital of England. Sitting at the North end of Derwentwater, among the stunning Lakeland Fells, Keswick is a perfect base for all those venturing into the great outdoors.

Just as Rohan clothing offers a great amount of versatility on a wide range of activities – Keswick’s fells offer a wide range of choice for different levels of skill and ability. From a leisurely stroll around the Lake, to Latrigg (which offers disabled access) to Skiddaw’s 3053ft summit!

As well as walking, just about every other outdoor pursuit can be catered for in and around Keswick. You can go rock climbing (indoor or outdoor), mountain biking/cycling, all manner of water sports or challenge yourself at the country’s only via Ferrata, which is situated at Honister slate mines.

For those of you coming to Keswick that are interested in the wildlife, you’ll be pleased to know that the Osprey’s have returned to Bassenthwaite Lake to nest again this year and have done so since 2001. There is a bus to take you to the Osprey viewing point and a café waiting for you at Dodd wood when you’re ready for a cuppa!

When next visiting Keswick, remember to take some time to explore the town, for such a small one it offers a great deal! We have several museums and gallery’s including the pencil factory, a traditional cinema and the fantastic Theatre by the Lake. The Theatre by the Lake must have the best location in the country, idyllically situated at the Lakeside, offering views of Derwentwater, Borrowdale and the Western Fells. The tourist information, which is located in the historic Moot Hall in the centre of town not only offers the usual information, it also offers regular local art and photography exhibitions.

Rohan Keswick is the home of the Rohan Original’s Collection. A unique collection of Rohan Heritage garments.

Its Keswick Mountain Festival this weekend!
On Saturday 17th at 10am we are lucky enough to have Peter Habeler in Rohan Keswick… Habeler and Messner did the first oxygenless ascent of Everest in May 1978, Habaler was wearing a Rohan (Gwaihir) Windlord Jacket, and we have one of these jackets displayed in store, as part of our originals collection.
We’re so excited to be meeting Habaler that were offering 15% off over the weekend (Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th).

    • Rohan Keswick says:

Sarah Howcroft will be popping in to see us (and Mr Habeler!) on Saturday. Sarah is always happy to answer any questions you may have.

A lovely donation from a lovely couple.

They may not live locally but that doesn’t mean they aren’t regular faces at Rohan Keswick.

Michael and Jean Shaftoe love the Lakes and try to visit as many times as they can throughout the year.

This time, they also decided to have a little clear out of their wardrobes and brought a selection with them to donate to Gift Your Gear. (They also took the opportunity to get 15% off some new things too!)

Like Jean and Michael, if you wish to donate unwanted but usable clothing to this wonderful charity then please call in to the store.

If want to take advantage of 15% off full price, you have until the end of the month.

Please call us or pop in for more information.

    See you soon.

  11. Rohan Keswick says:

Do you want more for less? More product for less weight and less money?

Then you’d better get yourself to Rohan!

How about treating yourself to Elite Jacket, Ultra Trunks, Ultra T, Aura Jacket, Ether Shirt and Ether trousers. Thats enough choice to take you from sight – seeing in the city to walking on the fell tops in the Lakes.

Yet collectively they only weigh 865 grams! That’s less than a bag of sugar or 2 pints!

Plus, if you donate to the Gift Your Gear which is running until the end of the month, you can also great a fantastic 15% off you purchase which would take this little lot from £497 to £422.45!

For more information, for a closer look and to see the whole of the spring/summer range.

    See you soon.
