You know when someone has an idea and there is literally no flaws in it what so ever! Well fortunately for Rohan Keswick, Ben and Christeen had one…
For our Christmas party last year, we were lucky enough to have a quite a lot of extras joining us at the Swinside (a pub a few miles out of Keswick). We had the entire back bar to ourselves which meant we could do a pub quiz, play pub games, sing karaoke, dance and generally have lot of late night fun without disturbing anyone. This may come as a bit of a shock to some of you but outside of work we can be a tiny bit rowdy.
This year due to one thing and another there was going to be less people joining us, so a new plan had to be made. The decision was to stay in Keswick this year, but how do you inject that fun element? Well this is where the great idea comes in. Rohan Keswick is the home of the ‘Rohan Originals’-many Rohan garments from the 1970’s and 80’s are framed on the walls of the shop and Ben has many more items of vintage Rohan garments of all shapes and sizes not out on display. So it was suggested that we should wear Rohan Originals for a Christmas do, the more colourful the better…Brilliant, not particularly inconspicuous but brilliant!
So here’s a rundown of our outfits from back to front:
Greg: Action pants – Red, Safari shirt Emerald, Moving On – Jade/Purple
John (Katie’s other half): Bags – Aubergine, Moving On – Lime/Aqua
Liz: Salopettes – Green, Tropical shirt – gold, Dusker Jacket – Red and a set of high quality red plimsolls from eBay…and 80’s glasses (note I could not see out of them)
Leeanne: Superstriders – Red, Avari (junior) – Purple/Lime (age 12), T-minor Red/Blue, Rohan Green Long socks.
Christeen: Voyager Jacket – Red/Blue/Grey, Tropical shirt – Red, Bags – White and set of high quality white plimsolls from eBay! 80’s perm, 80’s make-up

Jake: Bags Shorts – Red, Safari shirt – Gold, Mariner – Blue/grey, Glacier Glasses, Gold Belt
As an extra bit of fun we decide to get the staff of Magnolia to judge who looked the “best”. After much deliberation I (Liz) came out on top, snatching the wonderful prize of 80’s sweets. I do half of my victory to Christeen for the hair and makeup
It really was a great evening with lots of laughs, good food, and some sneaky dancing in our Rohan Originals later on. Thank you to all the staff of Magnolia and all of our friends from other shops and business, and a couple of customers that popped down to see us in our gear. Most of all thank you to our wonderful staff, not just for the evening but the hard work they do all year round.
Merry Christmas everyone, I hope it is filled with as much fun and laughter as our evening.
