May 19th – 23rd 2010
Most of us do not need an excuse to visit The Lakes and call in at Rohan Ambleside and Keswick. This caught my eye and is well worth considering if you are planning a trip to the Lakes in the next few weeks. The Keswick Mountain Festival opens on Wednesday 19th May offering visitors a wonderful selection of activities to experience from walking to ghyll scrambling, mountain biking to climbing. The heart of the festival comes to life on the Friday when the Adventure Base opens, idyllically located next to Derwentwater, Keswick. Visitors to the Adventure Base can visit stands, get involved in activities, pick up advice and tips as well as watch demonstrations. A packed lecture programme will run in The Theatre By The Lake, offering talks from inspirational speakers such as Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Leo Houlding, Dave Birkett, Doug Scott, Andy Kirkpatrick and Andy Cave. Information and book your activities!
A note from Christeen (Manager Rohan Keswick)
″Here in the Keswick store we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 4th Keswick Mountain Festival; which will take place from 19th-23rd May? We have been very pleased to see the festival grow in popularity each year, and I’m sure we won’t be disappointed with this year line up. We think it is a fantastic idea to have 5 days of adventure where you can tailor each day to suit you (no matter what your age or level of experience) as there will be plenty to choose from, andyou get to see lots of Keswick! As always, there will be various guest speakers at the Theatre by the Lake including the Lakeland fell Running hero, Joss Naylor and the ‘Worlds Greatest Living Explorer’, Sir Ranulph Fiennes. So if you can make it up to Keswick for the festival (or any other time) then please pop in to say hello to the Keswick team″.
