Summer in Snowdonia – Wild Swimming is a Must!

wild swim

Summer is sizzling in Snowdonia. So much so that wild swimming in lakes, rivers and sea is a must! No wetsuits required the temperature of the water is perfect. Whats more it is free, beautiful and healthy!

A regular Rohan customer came into our shop in Betws-y-Coed last week, she had visited the shop a year ago when we first opened. She had come in to buy some shirts for the Conwy Walking Festival that was taking place during the week.

One of the walks incorporated a wild swim with a walk. After walking to a lake, the walkers were issued with light ultra flexible wetsuits (not that you need them at the moment) and waterproof day sacks. They swam for a while in the lake before finishing off with another walk. Our customer talked to the leaders of the swim walk about the Rohan shop in Betws, so they popped into see us and have a chat about wild swimming. What they do sounds great, check out

I have been doing my own wild swimming daily after closing the shop, either in the river or in Llyn Mymbyr Capel Curig. The temperature of the water is fantastic, perfect! I don’t have a waterproof phone case so I used my waterproof Rohan wallet instead to put my phone in to swim to the middle of the lake and take some photos. My phone has lived to tell the tale!

Come to cool off in Snowdonia and do some wild swimming  Rohan in Betws y Coed.
