Rohan Hilltop Jacket – Customer Review
Prior to a recent family holiday walking the Speyside Way I was persuaded it was about time to replace my worn and battered waterproof jacket of ten years with ‘something more modern’.
I wasn’t looking forward to the task of finding a replacement jacket but knowing the vagaries of the Scottish summer weather I knew it was the prudent thing to do.
What I really wanted was a new version of my old jacket, waterproof, breathable not too noisy or heavy, good size secure pockets a proper hood and last but not least a decent length – Some Hope!
On a wet day in Ambleside I set out to find my new jacket and a few hours later I found it!
My new jacket – The Rohan Hilltop
The deep hand pockets have storm flaps and are large enough to accommodate sandwiches, hats, gloves, torch etc. the drawcords for adjusting the waist are inside the hand pockets a nice touch. The map pocket is big enough to take an OS map with ease and there’s a zipped inside pocket idea for keys, mobile etc.
The generous adjustable hood has a wired peak and the fleece panels are another nice touch. The hood can be packed into the collar when not needed.
The jacket is made from Rohan’s Barricade fabric which is waterproof, breathable, soft to the touch and weights less than my old jacket.
I like the double snap closure that allows you to open the front of the jacket for greater freedom of movement when walking.
What I wanted most in a new jacket was the longer below the knee-length reminiscent of a style that is becoming increasingly difficult to find and this is what really sets the Hilltop jacket apart its longer length offering great protection for everything from dog walking to a wet week walking in Scotland
The Rohan Hilltop is a worthy successor to my old waterproof – Annie.
