Sneak Preview Autumn Winter 2012 – New Rohan Shivling Jacket for Women
Sometimes the simpler things are better than the more complicated.
What should a women’s technical fleece jacket look and feel like?
Should it be boxy, baggy and smothered in features?
Or should it be distilled, beautiful and fitted to flatter?
For this coming season the new women’s Shivling Jacket is a real step forward.
We’ve invested in a high performing, technical fleece that also looks and feels superb.
We’ve worked really hard on the subtleties of design and fit to make something that works hard, is attractive to look at and is a pleasure to wear.
First the fabric. Built from one of our special, engineered fleeces the Shivling has a plush, soft yet resilient outer surface. Inside the fabric is a “pillar” construction, with longer fibres to trap more warmth without bulking you up. Throughout the fabric white marl yarns give a natural textured look to the jacket. (You can see the white yarns are used to create the lofted texture on the inside.)
The open structure of the fleece knit is very breathable and comfortable in a wide range of conditions.
Next the cut: sized from Small to Large the fit is flattering without being baggy or restrictive. The gently shaped side seams are complemented by the garment construction seams that curve around the front and back.
All seams are flat profile to reduce bulk and the risk of rubbing.
The hem adjusts with discreet shockcord adjusters for a perfect fit; the cuff is plain.
Two zipped hand pockets on the front are lined with a soft, brushed mesh for comfort.
At the back of the neck and the cuffs there are discreet little webbing strips which allow the Shivling to be zipped and attached into most of our new waterproofs from Autumn 2012, so you can have the benefit of a linked-together, waterproof and warm coat, if you wish.
We think this is one of the most technical and the most beautiful fleeces we have ever done – and we hope you agree! Can’t wait to see it appearing in Rohan shops soon.
Shivling should be available in-store and on-line within a few weeks. The colours are Cobalt Marl (as shown), Plum Marl (which is a soft, washed-out “berry” colour) and Calico Marl, which is a beautiful, neutral cream. Price is £75.
