The Torch will be visiting South Lakeland Communities on 21 June and 22 June 2012, entering the district in Grasmere and travelling through Rydal on open top bus to Ambleside then it will pass through the streets of Ambleside. The torch itself will pass the front door of Rohan Ambleside being carried by one of four of the local torch bearers. At Waterhead it will board the MV Tern and sail down Windermere Lake until it reaches Bowness creating highlight to our Evening Celebration Event as it lights the cauldron on the stage.
Head down to The Glebe in Bowness for 2012 in the Lakes, Welcoming the Olympic Flame. Bowness on Windermere will hold an Olympic Torch evening celebration on Thursday 21 June. As part of a programme for the evening you can also experience one of the opening events of the prestigious London 2012 Festival, On the Night Shift. This free show will see streams of colour and light blaze across the skies above Lake Windermere. Presented by Lakes Alive, On the Night Shift is a brand new commission from French pyrotechnic wizards Les Commandos Percu, who wowed audiences at Mintfest and Maryport in 2010 and have a worldwide reputation for incredible productions.
