Visit the Rohan shop and meet Karen, Wendy, (Chief Judge of Dog with best coat Category in Woofbridge – a Bark in the Park), Suzanne, Karl, Steve and Nick. We can kit you out for a Safari or an afternoon walking the dog and everything in between. We’ll give you honest advice and suggest the most appropriate clothing according to your needs.

At Rohan Woodbridge we have staff with experience of the following countries and regions:

Got an old piece of Rohan clothing? Can we borrow it to display on the wall please?

Other attractions in Woodbridge include:

Les Chocolats Belges, (Karen’s favourite) purveyors of top notch chocolate Buttons.

Honey & Harvey, an independent coffee shop opposite Rohan and a step up from the usual high street chains.

The Waterfront Café set by the historic Tide Mill and with magnificent views of the River Deben, great for a coffee or a light meal.

Sutton Hoo is just the other side of the Deben from the Tide Mill and can be reached by car or on foot. The 8th Century burial mound of King Redwald found on the eve of World War Two containing some stunning artefacts. A great visit for kids and adults alike. A pleasant walk from Woodbridge to Sutton Hoo along the banks of the River Deben.

Back in Woodbridge and in need of sustenance? Try the Old Bell and Steelyard on New Street or the Anchor at the bottom of Quay Street, opposite the railway station. Both pubs are well run and friendly and have good beer and good food.

“Rohan Woodbridge customers, Mr. and Mrs. Oldfield who recently visited the Perito Moreno glacier in southern Argentina. They are pictured here standing by the shop counter and in front of the backdrop which is the very Perito Moreno glacier on which they stood. Beside them are two pictures they have given us showing them on the glacier. How cool (in several ways) is that?

Gift YOUR Gear it belongs outdoors

  1. We had a customer in this morning who was going to a wedding and wanted a smart shirt and trousers.

No problem, we identified a pair of Grant Tour Chinos and a Worldview Shirt and added a Switchback Belt to finish off the ensemble.

As he had to be at the venue within an hour of making his purchases we were happy to steam his newly purchased garments to ensure that he looked smart enough for the occasion.

He left delighted that he didn’t have to go home and apply an iron.

    Rohan, exceeding customers expectations.

  2. Rohan Woodbridge will be open as usual on Good Friday and Saturday, then closed as usual on Sunday and closed on Easter Monday. After that we’ll be open as usual until May.

In May we’ll be open as usual apart from Monday 5th. and Monday 26th. – we’ll be closed on both those days.

    See you soon.

  5. Maroc has arrived in Woodbridge!

We have had the delivery with the Maroc Jackets and trousers AND the Maroc Shorts. We have some great T Shirts to go underneath the jacket so pop into Rohan in Woodbridge to see how good you can look whilst relaxing somewhere exotic or simply at your local watering hole.

The Maroc range is Linen Plus and will crease less than normal linen and any creases that appear will drop out. It goes in the washing machine or a handy stream, no need to specialist cleaning.

Who could ask for anything more?

    See you soon.

  6. We all know that Rohan Bags pack down small, don’t we.

Pop down to Rohan Woodbridge and see a pair in a soup tin! OK, I admit that I’ve taken the soup out first but even so, it’s not bad.

    See you soon!

  7. Rohan Woodbridge’s new window has gone on display. Looks good and enumerates the benefits of Rohan clothing, packable, light, waterproof etcetera.

Pop down to see what benefits you could gain by using Rohan clothing.

As the lady who was just in the store said, the weather isn’t the problem, it is the clothing you wear that is the answer. She’s off to Edinburgh soon and as she’s visiting from California there is some significant difference in the weather which we are helping to prepare her for.

  8. All change!

Now the Gift Your Gear display has gone from Rohan Woodbridge it has been replaced with more ‘old Rohan’ so we have a Moving On over a Major T and a pair of original Bags – a picture will be on our FaceBook page soon.

We sent off several boxes packed tight with your unwanted gear. See below for messages from Roger Cann (Rohan MD) and Sarah Howcroft (Rohan Co-Founder and founder of Gift Your Gear).

  10. Woofbridge is TODAY!

Come one, come all, just come along if you like dogs.

Wendy from Rohan Woodbridge is a judge and although she is not letting any secrets out as to which category she is judging (she claims to have forgotten) she did mention that a quiet donation of Caramac Bars might help her make her mind up – not bribery she hastens to point out, it just helps her think more clearly.

While you’re going to Woofbridge do pop into Rohan just down the Thoroughfare from Elmhurst Park and don’t forget that Gift Your Gear is still running until the end of March so come along for a great day out and grab a bargain at 15% off too.

    See you soon.

  11. Rohan Woodbridge and Gift Your Gear.

Gift Your Gear is a win/win here are the details for those of you who haven’t availed yet.

YOU donate your unwanted serviceable outdoor gear to Gift Your Gear and WE give you 15% off full price purchases made the same day. The gear then goes to an outdoor charity ensuring that someone else gets into the outdoors in the appropriate clothing.

    Everybody wins!

YOU also get to feel good about making some space in your wardrobe too.

This offer ends on 31 March.

Don’t miss out! Make some space, get a bargain, do some good.

  12. Come on! You didn’t REALLY think the cold weather was over did you?

What you need is several layers so that you can mix’n’match for warmth and waterproofing in this highly changeable weather. Add to that light weight and low pack volume, not to mention technical ability, then you need to get down to Rohan Woodbridge.

We don’t do hard sell but we will be friendly and helpful. You have been warned!

    See you soon.

  13. Gift Your Gear is doing really well, people are being very generous in their donations. We’ve had a lovely, warm Rohan jacket from, I think, the late 80′s which is now part of our Gift Your Gear display and which will appear on our Facebook page later on today.

    See you soon.

  14. Woofbridge (The Bark in the Park) on 29 March.

    Elmhurst Park in Woodbridge.

  16. Rohan Woodbridge. Out with the old and in with the donated.

We’ve changed our display of old Rohan for an ensemble made up of Gift Your Gear items to demonstrate the sort of garments we are happy to accept.

We’ll take serviceable garments from any outdoor brand (we’re sorry, we can’t accept socks or underwear for obvious reasons) and give you 15% off new purchases made on the same day as the donation. The donated gear then goes to an outdoors charity so that someone else gets the opportunity to get into the outdoors in appropriate clothing.

    Everybody wins.

    See you soon.

  17. Gift Your Gear starts again on Monday 3 March.

This award winning initiative really IS one where everyone wins!

The items we are looking for are jackets, trousers, fleeces, shirts/T shirts. For obvious reasons we can’t accept socks or underwear. The clothing donated will go to an outdoors charity to give someone else the opportunity to experience the wonderful countryside in appropriate clothing.

We will accept Rohan or other makes of outdoor gear, good eh?

    See you soon.

  18. The New Core Silver Zip is instore now.

This has replaced the Core Silver T Long Sleeve. My first impressions are very good indeed. The fabric is a little lighter than the previous version and the addition of the zip neck makes a big difference. Not only does it allov extra venting for high intensity activities but in cooler conditions the neck can be zipped right up giving you the protection of the upright collar.

I’ll report back in more detail when I’ve worm mine a bit more but one thing I can tell you now, I’ll be getting a second one.

  19. Buffs are coming back to Woodbridge.

An underrated piece of gear. Necktube, hat, headband, wristband, bag, towel…

  20. Arriving at the Woodbridge stORe today…

The Aura Jacket. Has to be seen to be believed.

    Pop in soon.

    • The Aura jackets are here now, they are VERY light indeed, an amazing windproof and water resistant layer, it has thumb loops, a zipped chest pocket and an inside packpocket.

You need to see one of these, they come in men’s and women’s versions.

      See you soon.

  21. Some people enjoy the rain. Others just get wet.

  22. Into the last week for the Winter’s End Sale – items up to 40% off.

Also into the last week to use your voucher booklets – the 10% off New Season items is proving particularly popular.

As the sun is actually shining a little bit you might want to ppin and peruse or new for Spring and Summer stock, some old favourites, some new ideas, some great colours.

If you are in the Woodbridge area and need a family tent, one has been donated to the store. There is a large groundsheet, a big bag of poles/frame and a bag with the tent in it.

We have not got the room to investigate this nor to keep it for very long so if you want a tent, sight unseen, then please come along during opening hours and collect it.

  27. Valentines weekend in Woodbridge?

THE place to be will be the Hamblin Road car park (only two hundred yards from Rohan) where on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 February you can go ice skating between the hours of 1000 and 1600.

If the event itself isn’t enough, the skates are free and use of the synthetic rink is free too.

    See you soon!

  29. Ringing the changes.

It is miserable outside, wet and cold. Inside we are displaying some warm weather heritage gear to counteract the weather!

Out with the Classico jacket and trousers.

In with the paler than Heritage Grey striders, the finelight top in yellow/orange and the lightweight jacket that I’ve not seen before. I know it is old, the label simply says Rohan Skipton, Gt Britain on one side and on the other the poly/cotton blend and the washing instructions. The size label is B/M (mens medium) 1239A and 2/5.

The jacket is a moss green with olive lining at the front. It has a Chinese collar and closes with poppers with the male poppers set a good 3 inches in from the hem. The outside chest pocket arrangement is similar to the Wild Vest with a poppoer close pocket, two pen slots and a further open pocket, possibly for a comb or similar. The pockets are about 5 inches deep. The sleeve cuffs are a single popper shirt-like cuff. There is a single inner pocket with a zip closure. The pocket is enormous, stretching from the shoulder seam down to withing 4 inches of the bottom hem and all the way round to the side seam. Not so much a map pockt as big enough for a small country. That’s it. it is made of Airlight.

Any ideas as to what this jacket might be called and when it was made?

  30. This morning the BBC said it was -1 outside at 0600 so I fished my Spark Top out of the washing basket and took the opportunity to try it out in colder conditions than previously possible – read more…

    THE SALE continues in-store.

    See you soon.

  38. Another review of the Spark Top.

You really need to come and see these, they are great tops.

  39. I’ve been wearing my Spark Top pretty much daily since I got it two weeks ago.

I’ve worn it in a range of temperatures from 20 degrees in the shop (it’s a bit warm for this even with just a T-shirt underneath (still, it is very breathable so not uncomfortable) to a windy 3 degrees worn over a long sleeved T when carrying a rucksack.

The first thi8ng you notice is that you don’t notice it, it is very light indeed, cut roomily enough to trap air but not so big as to dump air.

The neck zip is long enough to make getting it on and off very easy, it also makes venting heat a simple process.

The single pocket is large enough for a wallet and/or phone and it easily accessed whichever side out the top is being worn. It also functions well as a packpocket making the top impressively small when it is all packed away. At 220g it is a very lightweight layer and the wind and water resistance make it a joy to wear on my morning walk along the river Deben, for those of you who know the area I’m sure you’ll agree that the wind can really howl along at Kyson Point!

You’re aware of the wind hitting the outside of the garment but that’s as a far as it goes.

Worn with a long sleeved Core Silver T, a buff and a pair of Striders it is a great addition to my wardrobe and still comes up like new when washed with no sign of wear whatsoever.

  40. We are in the enviable position of having a SALE and having NEW LINES arriving too. We’re getting the Spring/Summer lines coming into the store almost daily.

This deal is not too good to be true, it IS true.

Pop in and see the Meridian soon.

  45. Further update to the shiny, shiny update.

The Spark Top has arrived in the Woodbridge store – I might have to be physically restrained from giving hourly updates on how much I like it.

A lot is all I can say, a lot.

I think these will fly out of the shops, a worthy successor to the Olfio.

  46. Update on the shiny, shiny update!

We are expecting the Spark Top to land at Rohan Woodbridge tomorrow, Friday 20th. December 2013.

    See you soon.

  47. Shiny, shiny update.

The Spark Tops are in the warehouse and I’ve ordered one for myself – I’m REALLY excited about this purchase.

Watch this space for feedback on what I expect to be a really good garment. I’ve had a Spark Vest for 18 months now and it gets a LOT of use. I expect the Spark Top to be great for the cooler months.

  48. Rohan Woodbridge has stocking fillers.

    Belts (several sorts)
    Bags (several sorts)
    Head torches
    Hand torches
    Karabiners of various sizes

    See you soon.

  49. Shiny, shiny for ladies this time.

    The Meridian Jacket.

Offering the perfect level of protection from the fickle British weather, our Meridian Jacket is a light, warm jacket that’s perfect for those tricky ‘in-between days’ of early spring and late autumn.

Taking its inspiration from classic parka designs, it features a 100% polyester outer which has been treated with our advanced Dynamic Moisture Control™ finish.

It’s completely windproof and offers a really useful level of protection from showers; it’s also extremely quick drying and very, very breathable. So, it’s perfect for active use in everything but the worst wet weather.

The lining is a soft, cosy polyester jersey which offers warmth and comfort – in equal measures.

Should be instore just before Christmas.

    See you soon.

  50. Oooh, shiny, shiny!

Coming soon to a Rohan store near you is the Spark Top.

Ever wanted a very lightweight and windproof insulated top?

As well as lightweight (how does 165g sound to you?) it is water resistant, has a packpocket, is reversible , packs small and is warm.

It even comes in two colours, team blue and graphite and, being reversible, has a different colour on the inside so you get two for the price of one.

Watch this space. Due in just before Christmas.

  51. All change at Rohan Woodbridge.

Out with the old and in with the old….

We’ve changed the display of old Rohan so gone are the two Olfio tops and in their place are a Classico Jacket and trousers from 1988/9.

    More changes in due course.

  52. Today, 11 December is International Mountain day!

    No, really, it is…

  53. Our Merino Wool promotion starts Wednesday 11th December, with 20% off slected items. Why not pop in to the Milton Keynes store and take a look. Offer ends Sunday 15th December.

For more information, check out the link below:

  54. This weather is a so-and-so isn’t it?

One day it’s cold, another it’s wet, then it is warmer and dry and then a different combination of the three.

The best answer is lightweight layers that can easily be added or removed as required. This is where Rohan has the answer for you.

We have lightweight, packable clothing that is ideal for the hills, town, travelling or just being about.

The outdoors starts at your front door, not five miles away and not at a set altitude. You can be comfortable or uncomfortable in or outdoors.

Rohan can help you to be Comfortable.

    See you soon.

We also have a great range of Icons of Design for those quirky but useful stocking fillers.

In addition to the above there wil be Festive drinks and nibbles.

    See you soon.

  57. Woodbridge is having a Street Fair on Sunday 1st. December.

In honour of this occasion Rohan Woodbridge will be open from 1000-1600.

Woodbridge’s Street Fair grows annually and is a good day out for all the family. Come to Woodbridge for the day and Rohan specifically fo the pre-Christmas bargains on offer on the day.

    See you there.

  58. Rohan from the Past.

Gone are the Horizon top from 1999 and the Wild Vest from 1986 and now showing are two Olfio Technical Warmwear tops.

One is an early 80′s version I think, and the second is 1986/7. The main differences are that the early version has a pen slot on the popper neck opening whereas the newer version has two pen slots next to the big chest pocket (older version has no chest pocket). Inside the chest pocket is a D ring a la Bags and several elasticated loops, the intended function of which I don’t know.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

Pop in and have a look at the garments, Rohan does timeless very well indeed.

  59. Congratulations are due this morning to Sarah Howcroft. “Gift Your Gear”, the initiative set up by Sarah to give unwanted gear a useful second life, has won the TGO (The Great Outdoors) magazine special judges award.

Huge well done to Sarah, recognition from a much respected outdoor title for a fantastic initiative! Plus a massive thanks to every one of our shops who have gathered in so many donations, from our very generous customers.

‘Gift Your Gear’ was launched in September 2012. Over 14,000 garments have been repurposed, with beneficiaries reaching all sorts of projects, from Skye to Truro.

‘Gift Your Gear’ will be back in Rohan shops next spring. We are proud to support it and will be delighted to display this piece of recognition from TGO.

P.S. Have you voted in the Wanderlust Awards yet?
Click on the link or visit to vote.
    Thank you.

  60. Rohan emails.

Rohan regularly has “email only” offers so it really is worth it to sign up when asked if you want to put an email address on your regisatration page – several recent promotions have offered 25% off ticket price!

We won’t tell you about these offers in store, they are a perk for those who sign up. Think about it, it could make the difference between comfort or discomfort this winter when you’re out and about.

    See you soon!

PLEASE VOTE FOR ROHAN – the online form is available here:

Sorry to sound like an X-Factor judge but our win is not guaranteed ‘we need your votes’ – ‘lets make this award our own’ and tell all our customers next year that we’re still ‘sch-amazing’.

    Thanks for your help.

  71. What a miserable morning it was at 0600. I went out for my walk round Woodbridge in the warm and drizzle, not a problem, I wore the Windshadow jacket and a pair of ether trousers, and stayed a comfortable temperature.

The problem was when I walked into Porter’s Wood at the bottom of Pilot’s Way, it was pitch dark, I could see my hand in front of my face, I checked but I couldn’t see much else. Tomorrow I’ll be going round with a Petzl Tikka Plus 2 head torch strapped on.

These come with a variety of settings, high beam and battery saving mode and a red light for use when you need to preserve your night vision and white light won’t do.

Pop in and see one, then buy it and see with one.

It was bucketting down, it has eased off a little now but is supposed to be heavy again over the weekend.

    See you soon.

  77. With the wet and cold weather hitting the south east today you need to come and see us.

We have the full Rohan range of waterproof and warm gear.

A note to those new to Rohan, waterproof and warmth does not have to be bulky and heavy to be effective. Liberate yourself from a heavy winter coat with a layering system that will be lighter and more comfortable and elements of which can be worn year round in inclement weather.

Come in and talk to us about the clothing, we don’t do hard-sell but we do do cheerful and helpful.

  78. Trail Magazine features Rohan again this month. The Pinnacle III Jacket is in the winter mountain jacket test.

“Rohan uses its own 3 layer Barricade fabric in the Pinnacle, which offers excellent waterproofness and breathability.

The Pinnacle is 20% lighter than in previous years….this is one of the longer jackets by quite a margin, as it easily covered my bum and groin, meaning that it offers far more protection than some others.

The hood is very good thanks to a wired peak plus great use of drawcords to allow decent fit and movement.”

Come into Rohan Woodbridge today to see the Pinnacle III for men and women.

  79. Gift Your Gear still features, people are still donating even though it has officially finished.

  85. A beautiful sunny September day in Woodbridge.

With clear skies and a little mist early in the morning why not take a walk along the river wall? Either direction from Woodbridge, to Kyson Point with the low tide view of the mudflats or towards Melton past the house boats, both directions have their advantages and their great views.

The pink tinged mist in the dawn is worth getting up for alone, add in the great views of the Deben and it becomes very special.

  89. Looking at people in the street this week it is obvious that the cooler weather is influencing people’s dressing habits as shorts and T-shirts have given way to jackets, boots and hats.

Here at Rohan we understand the pain of needing to cover up and having to put on increasingly heavy layers to keep warm. We can take your pain away by keeping you warmer with less weight by demonstrating the layering system, putting several stand-alone garments together to achieve comfort without the weight penalty.

Alternatively, if you feel like fleeing these chilly shores for warmer climates we also have a great range of T-shirts, polos and lightweight trousers.

Whatever the weather, whatever the season, whatever the destination come and see us, we have answers for you.

    See you soon.
