Jane Austen shopped at Rohan

Glenn Wood long time Rohanist and author of Rohan Confessions sent us this great post.

Jane Austen shopped at Rohan.

A more plausible story is that Jane Austen’s brother Henry was a partner in a bank at 10 Henrietta Street, which is nowplaque-above-rohanstore the Rohan shop. Henry lived for several years above the bank (where the green plaque is) and Jane would stay with him when she came to London on business – usually to visit her publisher.

The sad truth is that I am addicted to spending money in the Rohan store. Shortly after taking this photograph I went in and bought several items, including the linen shirt which I am seen wearing in photographs later the same day.

Glenn has shared some great pics on flikr. Thank you Glenn.
