Want to visit hundreds of film locations, meet new people and get fit?
A question recently asked on Ramblers
The Ramblers are running a programme of 16 “Films on Foot” walks around London visiting more than 400 movie locations from Mayfair to the Isle of Dogs.
Between the 12th and 27th of October, one walk a day will visit dozens of big screen sites including famous landmarks and “hidden” corners of the capital, rarely visited by most Londoners. All walks are free, colourfully commentated – and will end at a pub.
If you have an interest in films this sounds like a great way to see a different side of the city, get fit and make new friends
The 16 themed walks will include:
Keeping it Real – Monday 17 October
A four mile film location walk visiting the mean streets and gritty housing estates of South East London that have formed the backdrop for the films such as ‘Passport to Pimlico’, ‘Snatch’, ‘Harry Brown’ and ‘Attack the Block’.
Glorious Greenwich and the Dogs-Sunday 23 October
A walk through the Isle of Dogs, the scene for many gangster and action films; and Maritime Greenwich, which is one of the most popular film locations in London featured in the recent filming of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 3’ starring Johnny Depp, ‘The Golden Compass’ starring Nicole Kidman and the ‘Duchess’ starring Keira Knightley.
