On your bike – Bike security anxiety
All bicycles weigh fifty pounds. A thirty-pound bicycle needs a twenty-pound lock.
A forty-pound bicycle needs a ten-pound lock. A fifty-pound bicycle doesn’t need a lock.

Recently I had occasion to park my bike in the company of a bevy of impressive and very expensive machines. Mine a well-loved 20 years + Swallow looked somewhat understated in such rarified company. My companions however, had reached a state of heightened anxiety regarding the safety of their wheels.
Bike security anxiety and the cost of some bikes brought me to a service in Hampshire that specialises in 2nd hand bikes. Bicycle Recycling concentrate on an area of approximately 25 miles of Winchester although they do suggest you contact them if you are not in this area and check out a great list of other similar services on the website.
Bicycle Recycling are helping people get back on their bike cheaply and helping to be greener.
If you have an old, junk or unwanted bike, let them know and they will take it away and either try to make it usable again or break it down for parts to help resurrect another ageing steed.
If on the other hand you want a bike but don’t want to spend a lot of money, consider buying a recycled and refurbished secondhand bike instead of a brand new one, its less likely to get stolen!
