Did you watch The Wildest Dream?

Mount Everest or Mount Chomolungma 8,848 metres (29,029 ft).
Did you watch BBC2 Wed 17th August The Wildest Dream: Conquest of Everest?

An exploration of George Mallory’s fatal bid to climb Mount Everest in 1924, told through the photographs, re- enactments and archive footage. Mountaineers Leo Holding and Conrad Anker tried to reach the summit by the same route.

Whilst the film delivered 90 minutes of great photography it has raised a number of questions.

The question raised on a post on Innov_ex by Mike Parsons and Mary Rose called
Wildest Dream reinforces Mallory 1924 Everest Myths

“But why ignore the well researched facts and information produced in our Mountain Heritage Trust project”

The story is expanded in the post, well worth a read. With a link through to Mallory Myths and a link to the book Mallory Myths and Mysteries: The Mallory Replica Project by Mike Parsons and Mary B. Rose.

The post signs off with the following: Watching the film last night it felt a bit like the case of ‘why spoil a good story with some facts’?

Good question…
