A big thank you to all who visited my exhibition at the Rohantime 09 Dunster weekend.

It was a privilege to be made a welcome member of the team and to meet so many Rohan staff and customers throughout the weekend.

Being a professional landscape photographer I spend much of my time outdoors capturing the UK’s coast and countryside throughout the seasons.  When I stand alone on a rocky outcrop or a remote beach and witness inspiring shows of nature I often wish I could ‘beam up’ friends and family to share these moments.  So having the opportunity to bring my pictures to an appreciative audience of like-minded outdoor enthusiasts for the weekend was very rewarding and uplifting.

So many people that I spoke to were thrilled with the natural beauty Exmoor has offered them throughout the weekend.  Even the grey skies and occasional downpours couldn’t dampen their spirits!  As if anyone needed a reminder, the weekend showed us all that you need not travel far to find beautiful places.  This was reinforced by John Beatty’s incredible photographic lecture on the Friday night.  Many awe inspiring photographs enchanted us from the furthest reaches of the world, and were then followed up with pictures every bit as magical from our very own Peak District.

It’s a lesson that I continually learn as I photograph more and more of the UK.  The diversity and natural beauty of our little country is breathtaking to behold.  My own journey started in the South, with the New Forest and Jurassic Coastline of Dorset being my photographic playground.  Since moving to the Southwest I am now spoilt with the riches of Exmoor and Dartmoor, not to mention the coast of Devon and Cornwall; surely the most magnificent coastline anywhere in the world.

In the hustle and bustle of the busy 21st Century, it is so rewarding to know that many other people share my passion for the outdoors. The Rohantime Dunster weekend was for me a collective celebration of that passion, a meeting place of like-minded spirits in a memorable setting.

Thanks again for my invitation, and a special big thanks to all the Rohan Dunster store staff for making me feel at home throughout the weekend.

Please check out my website to enjoy more landscape photography from the UK and beyond.
