Brompton World Championship (BWC), 21st August
Raising money for Breast Cancer Brompton makers of the famous British fold-up is about to run its sixth championship, which attracts 750 riders from around the world to Blenheim Palace, near Woodstock, Oxfordshire on the 21 August 2011. There will be two laps of the 6.5 km course, and sports attire is not permitted (except helmets) – you must wear a blazer or suit jacket, shirt and tie. Prizes for the best dressed. So drag out your old Rohan Classico. Registration now open £28 entry fee.

Tandem Race World Championship, 4th September
Britain’s tandem fanatics realised they didn’t have a World Championship so theycreated one. Why not rent a tandem £22 from Totally Tandems and have a go. blackratcycle.co.uk, £30 entry fee
Night Ride Manchester to Blackpool, 17-18 September
A 60-mile bike ride under the stars to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. Starting at the Trafford Centre and ending at Blackpool. bhf.org.uk, £30 entry fee
Let them eat cake – Ibbo’s cake quest, 25th September
Stuff your face while burning calories on one of four cake-themed rides, with stops at cafes and farm shops. Rides range from the 20km fairy cake ride to the 150km fruit cake ride. There is a big cake station at the end. ibbocakequest.com, £10-£19 entry fee
