Hay Festival a literary extravaganza
26th May – 5th June 2011
Hay Festival is a gathering set in the staggering beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The festival attract the most exciting writers, filmmakers, comedians, politicians and musicians to inspire, delight and entertain.
For 10 days Hay is full of stories, ideas, laughter and music.
Hay is mad about books. The town has a population of 1300 people and 39 bookshops. That’s one shop for every 34 inhabitants. Former US president Bill Clinton dubbed the Hay Festival ‘the Woodstock of the mind.’
Among the headline guests will be Nobel Laureates VS Naipaul, JMG le Clezio, Paul Nurse and Mohammed El Baradei, historians Eric Hobsbawm, Michael Wood, Bettany Hughes and Niall Ferguson, broadcasters Chris Evans, Jenni Murray, Kevin McCloud and Evan Davis, actors Vanessa Redgrave, Ralph Fiennes, Rob Lowe, Gillian Anderson and Simon Russell Beale, and writers Paul Theroux, Linda Grant, Malorie Blackman, Michael Morpurgo and Jacqueline Wilson.
In addition to all this Hay also has a Rohan Shop call in and catch up with Peter & Fiona.
