Forgotten Spaces 2011
A design competition seeking new ideas for underused and neglected sites in Greater London.
Urban Walking in our towns or cities gives us a great chance to see a scrap of land, a boarded up building or even just grassy verge that is crying out to be put to better use. Waste land that is literally going to waste.
So what can we do about it?
Ordnance Survey are working with RIBA on the Forgotten Spaces London competition. Open to entrants across the country, the competition invites architects, artists, engineers, planners and designers to nominate neglected sites in the Greater London area and put forward proposals for their re-use.
Forgotten Spaces is supported by a new 2011 mapping site provided by Ordnance Survey. It supports the competition by providing you with an accurate resource to find and plot sites in the capital. You can start submitting speculative sites straight away and use to generate exact co-ordinates required for your final submission.
Three top prizes and up to five commendations will be awarded to the best schemes and a shortlist of up to 25 of the best proposals will be exhibited in a public exhibition at Somerset House, London in Autumn 2011.
1st Prize: £5,000
2nd Prize: £2,000
3rd Prize: £1,000
The competition is open until 12 May 2011. For more information visit the competition website.
