2010 Kendal Mountain Festival 18th-21st November
The weather last weekend took a turn for the worst. Autumn has arrived with a watery vengeance, shorter days and less opportunity to get out on the hills. However there is one big compensation.
Its getting near to the time (18th-21st November) for the 2010 Kendal Mountain Festival, the biggest event of its kind in Europe. A great mix of premier films, speakers, special guests books and exhibitions covering all aspects of mountain and adventure sports culture.
Climbers and mountaineers Peter Habeler, Tim Macartney-Snape, Timmy O’Neill, the Pou brothers Eneko and Iker, Lucy Creamer, Steve McClure, Guy Robertson and Eddie Barbour amongst the names announced so far. Globe-trotting biker Mark Beaumont talking about his latest gruelling adventures, plus David James on mountaineering in Afghanistan. Cameron McNeish and Richard Else will talk about the Live Climb project from the BBC featuring Dave MacLeod and Tim Emmett on Sron Ulladale, and there’s the chance to see two of the most well-known names in mountain photography; John Cleare and Colin Prior.
