Why on earth would you buy strawberries in the depths of winter?
Ok, what really gets my goat is when I am in the supermarket in December and January and I see people buying strawberries. It takes all my effort not to approach them and ask them why they feel the need to buy a punnet of red pebbles, because, let’s face it that’s about as good as they taste in winter.
Why on earth would you buy strawberries in the depths of winter?! They might look perfectly formed but that is as far as it goes, they usually feel rock hard and taste of nothing. The whole point of a strawberry is the sweetness and juice dribbling down your chin when you bite into it. The British strawberry is iconic with the summer so please please I beg you don’t let me catch you buying strawberries in winter!
